Meet brothers Kaleb and Micah. We were able to have a chat with their amazing Mom. T1D affects both her sons, but they don't let it slow them down!
Here's their story and what they like about GrifGrips. Help us celebrate the Amazing Bolusing Brothers and their Mom!
"I’m a mom of 2 type 1 diabetic sons. Kaleb is 12 years old and has had t1d since he was 4. He was diagnosed after being hospitalized with severe dka.
Micah is 3 years old and was diagnosed a few weeks shy of his 2nd birthday. We had him tested through TrialNet and found out he had all 5 genetic markers for developing t1d, so his diagnosis was expected. Knowing what to look for, we avoided dka this time around.
We love Grifgrips and the different shapes and patterns that are offered. Kaleb loves the video game themed ones and Micah loves the shark ones. As a parent of an active toddler I love the Omnipod patches that have the Omnistrap. It keeps the pod secure and in place without any trouble.
Blue November means a lot of different things to our family. It means bringing awareness to diabetes, especially to those who may not know much about it. It also brings us together with the t1d community that relates to our family."
